WHAT IS OZONE THERAPY?

Ozone therapy refers to a treatment in which ozone is being administered into the body to treat a disease or wound. Some researchers have found that ozone may help in treating medical conditions by stimulating the immune system. This therapy may also discard unhealthy processes in our body. Ozone therapy can inactivate bacteria, viruses, protozoa & fungi.

What is Ozone?

Ozone is a colourless gas made up of 3 atoms of oxygen. It is highly reactive gas. In the upper atmosphere, a layer of ozone gas protects the earth from the sun’s UV radiations but on the ground level ozone is a harmful air pollutant.

What are the benefits of Ozone Therapy in human body?

Ozone therapy may be used for a variety of conditions:

  Breathing disorders
  Diabetes
  Immune disorders
  Arthritis
  Disinfecting wounds
 Cancer
  Ischemic heart diseases
  Muscular degeneration

MODES OF ADMINISTRATION OF OZONE

There are three modes in which ozone can be administered in your body, these are:

  1. ADMINISTRATION OF OZONE DIRECTLY TO THE TISSUES
In case of a severe wound or problem in the extremity, the ozone gas will most likely apply in the affected tissue directly.
  2. ADMINISTRATION OF OZONE INTRA- VENOUSLY
Ozone is administered intravenously in case of internal disorders such as HIV; the ozone gets dissolved into the blood taken from you. The blood with the mixed ozone is injected back into the affected area/part intravenously.
  3. ADMINISTRATION OF OZONE INTRAMUSCULARLY
Ozone can also be injected intramuscularly; in this type of administration of ozone, the gas is usually mixed with oxygen gas before its administration.

HOW TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THIS THERAPY?

One should talk with the doctor or healthcare provider about the best way to prepare for this treatment. This is usually done by drawing blood from your body, followed by mixing of the blood with ozone gas thereafter replacing it.
